GCT gets top marks from Green Marine

GCT is committed to the communities in which we operate. In 2014, we put all four of our facilities through the Green Marine certification program to ensure we are thorough in our review. The voluntary program sets higher benchmarks for air, land, and water emissions than those set by government regulations so that as an industry, we can work toward a more sustainable future.

Our scores were good the first time, but after recently completing our recertification, we’re proud to announce they’re even better now! The individual scores for each terminal went up and we improved in every category, putting us at the “Excellence & Leadership” level in almost every area.

Overall scores by terminal:

Key highlights:

  • All terminals scored 5/5 for environmental leadership, spill prevention, and community impact.
  • All terminals received a 4/5 in the new waste management category.
  • GCT Deltaport showed the most improvement over the 2-year span with a 20% increase in their score due to the recent Intermodal Rail Yard Reconfiguration Project.
  • Special recognition was given for our leadership in emission reductions resulting from our truck reservation systems as well as our innovative processes, facility design, and equipment upgrades.
